I've been on a weight loss journey for the greater part of my life. After having my twin daughters in 1970 I've pretty much been battling obesity. At the age of 32 I weighed 222 pounds and had a gastric bypass. It worked great and I lost 90 pounds in less than a year. Then I had an emergency hysterectomy and my weight started increasing almost immediately. Within two years I had regained all the weight.
I reached my highest weight in 2014 at 242 pounds. That same year I had a hip replacement and lost about 20 pounds. It wasn't until 2016 that Ron and I both got serious about losing weight and together we did weight watchers and Lose It. I got down to 156 pounds and that's when Weight Watchers changed their plan. Now they had what they called 0 points foods. Well, I took that literally and about overdosed on strawberries. Then the pandemic hit and we both gained weight. I made it back to 205 pounds and Ron regained all his weight.
Well, 2 years ago I said enough is enough. I put the Lose It app back on my phone and set a goal of 1 pound a week. I have stayed on the 1200 calorie allowance and today I officially hit my goal of 130 by weighing in at 129.4 pounds. I haven't been this small since high school. I would like to get to 125 but I won't be upset if I don't. I'm considered a "normal weight". Still hard to believe. I know my knee surgery will be easier at this weight. Much easier to rehab. So, I'm happy.
I'd recommend the Lose It app to anyone wanting to lose weight. It's free and easy to use. It helps you be accountable and track your progress.

Congrats on the weight loss because I have herd it really makes a difference for knee replacement. For what it's worth, never having actually seen you, I have always pictured you as quite little.
Olga, that's funny. Now I would consider myself "little". I'm 5' 4" and today 128 pounds. Still getting used to the new body!
Congratulations! My mom weighed about 215 when she went on weight watchers in the 80's. She lost 80 lbs on the program, and immediately looked about 15 years older than she ever had, due to wrinkles and saggy skin. She saw my face when I saw her - went back home and put back all the weight. She said, "I'd rather be fat than to look older." I was appalled at her attitude, but I guess I can understand her now.
Good for you for losing - I know it isn't easy.
