We are having a heat wave and it's not tropical

The heat is back and here to stay.  I'm planning on indoor activities only.  I am having lunch with my girlfriend today.  We always go to lunch when either of us has a birthday.  Mine is Thursday so we are going out today.  My daughter is hosting a cookout on Saturday to celebrate my living yet another year.  A fact I don't take for granted.

Yesterday was the first time I felt a little frazzled about my son-in-law's extended stay.  He is very lethargic and just sits around or sleeps.  I wish he would take the initiative to offer to help Ron with the dogs or anything else he is doing.  I finally gave him a list of things he can do today to help out.

We are hoping to get an MRI scheduled for Ron soon to determine whether he tore a muscle in his hamstring.  He has been in pain for several weeks and he's wearing a brace recommended by his doctor, but it just isn't getting any better.  He also hasn't rested the injury either like he was instructed to do.  Men are so stubborn!  The doctor said he may require surgery and he will have a 4-to-6-month recovery plus he will be non-weight bearing.  I guess we will be taking care of each other when I get the knee replacement.  Hopefully we could do physical therapy together.

What El Nino?

We received a welcomed reprieve from the heat the past two days.  The upper 80's without humidity feels incredibly cooler,  Trying to get all outdoor activities completed.

My son-in-law is still with us.  He started a job in a factory, but it ended up being too physical for him.  He just turned 59 and the job required a lot of heavy lifting that he just isn't in shape to do.  So I guess he is starting over in the job search.  I was really looking forward to having my house back but guess it will be a while longer.

My daughter is moved into her little rent house.  It's very cute and all she needs.  It has been remodeled and is entirely ADA compliant.  After seeing it Ron and I decided to have some remodeling done.  We are enlarging a bedroom, adding a walk-in closet/safe room and an ADA compliant bathroom.  Should be nice when it is done.  We won't start the remodel until after my next knee surgery.

Ron is now so attached to my daughter's dogs I'm not sure she is getting them back.  It will definitely be hard for him to see them go.  So far, she hasn't said when she wants to bring them to her house.

If I'm going to take advantage of the weather, I'd better get going.
