No more artificial sweetener for me
I have been reading a lot about the side effects of
aspertame especially as it relates to joint pain. I've had
Osteoarthritis since I was 14 years old. So I am no newbie when it
comes to joint pain. I had both basal thumb joints removed about 10
years ago and I had ankle fusion in my late twenties. But like other
seniors my joint pain has increased with aging. So I am now in the process of trying to end my addiction to Diet Coke...and eliminate the use all artificial sweetener in my diet. Reading about the side effects of these sweeteners frankly scared me. Some people reported experiencing horrible joint and muscle pain that completely vanished after eliminating asperatame from their diet. This morning I had a cup of hot tea with honey. I need the caffeine in order to avoid the headache I will get if I don't have it. So far so good. I have promised myself I will switch to water only. Wish me luck! This is hard!

I DO wish you luck. I need to do the same thing, although Dr. Pepper is my poison of choice. Let us know how it goes.
Ditto what Kenju said, although mine is Coke..
not diet Coke, but I need to get off the carbonated beverage addiction I have. My sister tells me the caffeine is going to ruin my bones. I love icy cold water especially with a splash of lemonade but when I am stressed I think I need a Coke. It IS hard! Keep us posted...
I have tried many times to stop my Diet Pepsi addiction, but I always fail. It is very difficult to give up artificial sweetener, since I have diabetes. And, I think I have to sweeten my coffee. I hope you succeed.
I too have a Diet coke addiction and should quit all artificial sweetened foods. Good luck!
Have you all not heard of COFFEE??? I never got into diet soda--soda of any kind was just not an option in my house growing up. My mother was a health nut ahead of her time, but coffee was allowed.
I can't drink coffee only decaf so I figure why bother!
