So now President Obama is responsible for Justice Scalia's death? OMG what will they say next? I didn't think things could get any crazier but low and behold..........
It would be interesting to come back in a 100 years just to see how history treats this president.
I decided to purchase myself a new sewing machine today. I haven't sewn in a long time. I loaned my previous machine to my daughter and it stopped working but I had just never replaced it because I didn't have time to sew anyway. Now I have time! I just finished cutting new curtains for the guest room and tomorrow I'm going to sew them up. After that I have no idea what my next project will be but I'll think of something!
Poor Jamie has an outbreak of head lice in her classroom. In the past they sent a child home when lice were detected and they were not to return until it was eradicated. Not the case anymore. They are not allowed to send a child home for it because they often never get the problem resolved and the child misses too much school. Or they just continually get reinfected.
So of course the minute you find out a child has it you get paranoid and your head starts to itch! In her 16 years of teaching she has never caught it from a child but you never stop being paranoid!
For some reason I'm having trouble sleeping. Last night I couldn't get to sleep but often I fall asleep only to wake up about 3:30 am unable to go back to sleep. I had been taking melatonin but ran out of it. Guess I'll have to get some more. It did seem to help.
We had to get a plumber today to fix the sink in the guest bath. It seems the painters cleaned their tools in the sink and must have washed some of the wall texture down the sink. It turned to stone and was completely clogged up clear back into the wall. It was a $200 house call. We contacted the painting company and they are going to reimburse us for the bill. So all ends well.
Well wish me luck that the learning curve on the new sewing machine is low. I've got a manual to read. This is the first computerized machine I've ever had!
Well, we met the new suitor and I must say he seems very nice and quite smitten with my daughter. It seems almost too good to be true that she has found someone who makes her smile and feel so special. Her twin sister is very protective of her and has her guard up. I think after she spends more time with him she will feel better about everything. None of us want to see Jamie get her but if she doesn't take a chance she will never find love again.
I met with my former son-in-law to get some paperwork needed for my daughter to complete her taxes. He told me he is selling his land (now valued over $7 million dollars) and he says he is going to pay off the house so my daughter can stay in it. Of course it is only talk at this point but I hope he does it and then I know Jamie will be ok and will not have to sell her house.
It is sad but I believe that the land is partially what led to the divorce. He inherited it from his folks and I learned from an attorney that the land only became marital property if they did any improvements to it or sold it while they were married. At least that is the law in Oklahoma. Of course the fact that he was having an affair didn't help either.
I have my fingers crossed he will do the right thing.
I had a great day with my valentine. We went to church with Mike and then had lunch. The rest of the day we just stayed home and enjoyed each other's company.
Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband Ron! Ron is 67 years young today! He is having lunch today with his long time friend since junior high. He and Frank are going out for lunch at a friends barbecue restaurant. Then this evening we are going out with my daughters, Julie's husband and Jamie's new beau. Yes, daughter #2 has met a very nice gentleman and she wants us to meet him this evening. He has 4 daughters from a previous marriage all age 10. Three of them are triplets and one was adopted from China. He and his former wife had just been to China to get their adopted daughter when then found out they were expecting. Two of the triplets are identical twins. According to Jamie "He's a Ron". A compliment that almost brought my husband to tears.
Jamie said he (Mike) has a Ph.d. in educational psychology and teaches at the university. They have been spending a lot of time together and Ron and I both noticed a little giddiness when my daughter speaks about him. It's just good to see her smile again.
We are slowly putting the freshly painted rooms back together. It sure is hard to hammer a nail in the wall after they have been painted. But it's coming together!
We are expecting 74 degree temps here next Tuesday. And here I thought it was winter!
I just read something suggesting the idea that Bernie Sanders could ask Elizabeth Warren to be his VP running mate if he were to be the Democratic nominee for President. Now that would be a force to reckon with I think. This is the first talk I've heard of this and who knows if Elizabeth would even be interested but I think it is a great notion to ponder.
It's interesting but all of a sudden I haven't seen much conversation about "The Donald" lately. You think the media has decided to look elsewhere for absurdity. I mean there is a lot to go around. I was frankly getting very tired of Trump's rhetoric. It's nice to get a little breather.
By the time this election is over I will be so tired of campaigning and I know we ain't seen nothin yet! It will get worse before it's over.
The house feels empty. We have emptied 3 rooms and there is an echo. I told Ron it wouldn't take much more and we could move out of here in about an hour. (maybe a little longer).
Yesterday we saw a home for sale across from the school where my daughters teach. It had an extra two car garage in the back with a covered porch attached. I told Ron it wouldn't take much to convert it into an apartment. So we looked it up online and found out the house has 4 bedrooms 3 baths and is 2,230 square feet. Way more house than I would want to try and keep clean but there would be room for EVERYONE! Come one and come all.................
Last night we stayed with Jamie's dogs. Neither of us ever sleep well in a strange bed but we survived. Only one more night to go.
Just a few more things to move and we are ready for the painters Monday.
We are continuing to work on the house. Both spare rooms are empty now awaiting the painters. We hired a company here in Norman to come in and repair all the sheet rock damage as a result of shifting house and earthquakes. Some sheet rock will have to be replaced and re-textured. Only two rooms really had any significant damage but the rest were what people call nuisance cracks. Either way I don't have to fix any of it myself! They will also paint ceilings and walls in 3 rooms.
I've spent the last two days repainting baseboards and touching up throughout the house. This sure gave me the opportunity to do spring cleaning in February! I'll have about 4 rooms that will be spotless........! Ahhhh it just makes my OCD so happy. I don't think I've ever seen the windows this clean. They just sparkle! Ron did such a great job of getting the furniture out to the barn that we aren't having to step over stuff while waiting for the work to be completed. This is a good thing since the painters had to reschedule our job from Thurs/Friday to Monday/Tuesday next week. This just gives me more time to complete my part of the job.
Friday night we are staying at my daughter's house to dog sit over the weekend. She is going with a group of teachers to Memphis to visit the civil rights museum there. Nice break for her. Since her dog Sophie is dying of cancer she didn't want to stress her any more than necessary by boarding her so we are going over to stay with all the dogs.
We've been having unusually spring like weather and it just makes me anxious for the real thing. I'm ready to work in the flower beds. I'm so lucky to have such a patient husband. He just goes along with all my projects and never complains at all. Actually we work quite well together. But I'm sure he gets weary of me always finding something else to do. It never ends!
