It didn't hurt to have the Hollywood elite boasting about their disorders. What has happened however that the mental health system just like our health system in general has failed. Insurance doesn't cover cost of care and especially inpatient care. Unfortunately, many people suffering for mental disorders are also unable to work so that leaves without the financial means for care as well. It can financially destroy a family trying to get care for a loved one so it falls back on the family to provide the care. I don't know why this country can't figure out that it would be better to try providing care for all than do nothing at all!oklhdanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01371904174197202740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2315622674616774363.post-45848427150489964232010-06-03T08:33:22.858-05:002010-06-03T08:33:22.858-05:00Dani, I've been thinking about people with dis...Dani, I've been thinking about people with disabilities lately, I think, because of your last posting about your brother and niece, but also because I just received my copy of Georgia Backroads, which is a history journal about my state. In it was a article about Central State Hospital in Millegeville, GA, formally known as our "Insane Asylum". I hope we get better with understanding and helping all our people with disabilities.

One last thought: I wonder if, today, Crazy Craig would be a blogger.marciamayohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18185069576683872041noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2315622674616774363.post-79479436628596560322010-06-03T07:23:25.636-05:002010-06-03T07:23:25.636-05:00Wonderful post.

He is the cart wrangler and carries on a constant running conversation with himself.
I try to acknowledge him with a smile and a "good morning", but he never responds.
He works at a frenetic pace and does the work of two people. There is a story there as well.Arkansas Pattihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14156004753267665579noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2315622674616774363.post-541231719415012832010-06-02T22:11:48.096-05:002010-06-02T22:11:48.096-05:00People such as you have described are always worth...People such as you have described are always worthy of a measure of respect and compassion.

Good post (even the one about Judy...lol)kenjuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07342414519714356343noreply@blogger.com
