I just learned about an assault that took place just around the corner of our house.  A young woman was asleep on her sofa and at 1 am there was an intruder who attacked her while she was sleeping.  He stabbed her 27 times.  She somehow managed to get away from him and made it to a neighbors house to get help.  The attacker was not apprehended.  The woman did not know her attacker.  The paper called it a home invasion.

Now, that's a big unnerving and too close to home. (literally)

Oh, good grief! That is just terrible. Really makes one hurt to hear these things, and so close really hurts. i will be checking my doors twice tonight.

Wow, so not the Oklahoma I grew up in, 60+ years ago. Doors were never locked. What if you were gone and a neighbour needed to borrow a cup of sugar or an egg? It would have been inhospitable of you to have locked your door!

The world has gone mad. Everywhere you look there's violence and pain and hatred.

It's just heartbreaking to see how casually people hurt each others these days, how little they care for each other.

If true peace is in your heart you don't need laws to make you behave.
